Capacitive touch sensor operation

This type of tactile sensor measures the capacitance variation. The sensory area and the human body act as a capacitor and thus form a system that stores a charge of electricity.

By reducing the distance, the capacitance increases and the system stores more load. This load accumulation can be detected in the sensory area and generate a digital signal when it exceeds a threshold.
